Vodafone UK roams in over 150 countries worldwide, split across several zones with different daily charges depending on where you travel. Zone A destinations (Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway) are included in all Pay monthly plans at no extra cost. Beyond that, you pay a daily fee that scales with how far from home you go.

How are Vodafone's roaming zones divided?

Vodafone organises its international coverage into five tiers. Zone A is free on Pay monthly. Zone B covers 47 European destinations for £2.42 per day, letting you use your home plan allowance as normal. Zone C sits within the Global Roaming bundle of 83 destinations across Zones A, B and C combined. Zone D and the broader Global Roam category, which includes places like Morocco, costs £7.86 per day and covers up to 25 GB of data alongside calls and texts from your existing balance. Beyond all of that, 105 additional "roam further" destinations (Australia, Canada, the United States, Japan, India, Brazil, South Africa and many others) carry a £7.39 daily charge.

Which countries can I roam in?

Vodafone's official roaming PDF lists destinations across every major region. A sample of what is covered:

  • Europe (Zone B): France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Turkey and around 33 others.
  • Americas: United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Bahamas.
  • Asia-Pacific: Japan, India, China, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan.
  • Middle East and Africa: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Israel, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia.

Can I buy a roaming pass instead of paying daily?

Yes. Vodafone sells fixed-duration Europe passes that work out cheaper if you are travelling for more than a few days. An 8-day Europe pass costs £12 (text 8DAYEUROPE to 40506) and a 15-day pass costs £17 (text 15DAYEUROPE to 40506). Both let you use your home allowance across Zone B countries for the duration.

What about Pay as you go customers?

Pay as you go customers cannot use the daily roaming charge system automatically. You add a roaming Extra for your specific destination before you travel, or check exact costs using Vodafone's Roaming Charge Checker tool on their website.

Are there any places roaming does not cover?

Cruises are the main gap. When your ship is at sea and outside standard roaming coverage, Vodafone charges £2.40 per minute to make calls, £1.80 per minute to receive them, and 60p per text. These maritime rates apply regardless of your plan and are not included in any roaming pass or daily charge.
