Cookie policy

Last updated: 10 May 2026

Short version: this site does not set any tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless. We use minimal first-party localStorage only for non-tracking features.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website can store in your browser to remember information between visits. UK ePrivacy regulations (PECR) require sites to obtain consent before setting cookies that aren't strictly necessary for the service.

Cookies on this site

None. We do not set any cookies for analytics, advertising, social tracking or session management.

Cloudflare's edge may set a single technical cookie (__cf_bm) for bot management on a per-page basis. It is automatically deleted within 30 minutes and is classified as strictly necessary under PECR. We do not control its content.

localStorage we may use

The following keys are stored on your device only — they are not cookies, are not transmitted to us, and stay locally:

  • rrr.feedback — local cache of your "yes/no" votes on articles, so we don't keep showing the prompt after you've voted. Cleared when you clear browser storage.
  • rrr.moderation_token — only set on the /admin/ pages. Not used by normal visitors.

Third-party content

  • YouTube videos: embedded videos use the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain. No data is sent to YouTube until you click play. A poster image (the video thumbnail) is loaded from i.ytimg.com on page load.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile (only on the comment form): replaces traditional CAPTCHAs. Does not use cookies for verification — it relies on browser fingerprinting that is short-lived and not retained.

Your choices

You can clear browser storage at any time via your browser's privacy settings. This site will continue to work — you'll just see the feedback prompt again on articles you've already voted on.
